Meditations are effective. I experience the aftermath and it’s remarkable how the quietness leaves a distinct residue that is comforting yet intriguing. Captivated by the possibility of tapping into other dimensions gives fuel to stay diligent with the practice. How I am experiencing the mind is also having a noticeable undercurrent of clarity and peacefulness. Developing this ability to have a calm mind free from bombardment of thought is refreshing. I recall a time when it was said that such a thing was not possible. Having the courage to pursue the practice and experiencing this level of tranquility within the field of mind is fascinating to say the least. I can say without any doubt that it has improved my ability to concentrate in all areas of life. It has enabled me to read and comprehend what I am reading with a profound level of lucidity and retention.
I have been meditating first thing in the morning for 30 minutes consistently for the past 4 months. The moment my eyes open from slumber I smile and say “light and love to the universe and all beings.” I then reach for my yoga block, place it underneath my glutes, cross my legs, set my timer for 30 minutes, secure meditative positions then close my eyes. My experience from there is ineffable, not to be put into words as to avoid blemishing something unique and divine in essence.
Upon completion of my meditation I pick up my book on the Buddha’s teaching and begin to read. Once I arrive at a point where I find myself immersed and absorbing the teachings, I complete reading the paragraph, then I pause. I stop and look at the sky and the clouds through my window. Then reach for my yoga block, place it underneath my glutes, cross my legs, set my timer for 30 minutes, secure meditative positions then close my eyes. This is how I begin my mornings.
Peace within the mind is to be cultivated. One must intimately embrace the process and practice of meditation along with learning and understanding specific teachings to arrive at that point, where you can access this quality of peace. Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes peace as “a state of tranquility or quiet: such as freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions”, “a state of freedom from storm or disturbance”.
What this indicates, is that when there is no battle within the field of mind the result is peace.
